Welcome to the first edition of the OSSHABITAT newsletter!
This newsletter highlights our efforts in promoting energy-efficient home renovations and achieving climate and energy goals. The OSSHABITAT project aims to increase the number of renovated residential buildings by developing integrated services for energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. This includes providing information, technical support, creating customized financial models, and offering loans and subsidies.
The project fosters long-term partnerships among various stakeholders involved in energy-efficient renovation, such as citizens, manufacturers, financial institutions, government bodies, and homeowner associations. Our long-term goal is to establish OSSHABITAT as a national platform for residential building renovations.
This newsletter also covers key project insights, including the development of integrated services and the standardization of energy-efficient renovation procedures. We anticipate significant results, such as over 7 developed services, more than 25 partnerships with local actors, and over 200 completed projects, leading to an estimated 3 million euros invested in sustainable energy efficiency projects. These efforts are projected to result in 3.5 GWh/year in energy savings and a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 3,584 tons of CO2 annually.
We’re already seeing progress, with Memorandums of Cooperation signed with the Municipalities of Karposh, Kochani, and Kumanovo.
The project’s official launch took place in Skopje on February 11, 2025, bringing together over 100 participants from various sectors, including government officials and energy efficiency experts. A stakeholders’ workshop on May 6, 2025, further emphasized the need for enforcing existing laws, improving coordination with residents, and increasing business sector involvement to support energy-efficient home renovations.
OSSHABITAT is co-funded by the European Union’s LIFE programme, which supports environmental and climate action projects.
